Fairfax Neonatal Associates is seeking a Board-Certified Neonatologist, with recent Level III NICU Medical Director experience, to join our busy and expanding practice. We are located in Northern Virginia and provide Neonatology services for a large health system serving a pediatric population of over 700,000. The current available position will work primarily at one of the community hospital locations in our region. We actively participate in the Vermont Oxford Network (VON), and consistently rank in the top decile across VON measures. Our program has been nationally recognized by the Joint Commission and other sources as one of the top NICUs in the nation.
 
The Medical Director will be responsible for directing the effective clinical operations of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program, overseeing the clinical quality of patient care, and serving as the primary representative of the clinical practice interacting with administration and the medical staff. The Medical Director provides strategic and medical operational leadership, monitors physicians, and leads an interdisciplinary team of non-physician providers. The Medical Director performs assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of Fairfax Neonatal Associates, P.C., supporting our mission, vision, and values to optimize the health and well-being of our patients.
 
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Organizes and coordinates services provided by physicians and non-physician providers. Oversees the development of medical services, including protocols, standard policies and procedures, and management of all patient care related activities. 
  • Oversees quality assurance and appropriateness of medical care and documentation of care; drives quality improvement efforts. 
  • Oversees the ongoing training and conducts performance appraisals of the Pediatric Hospitalists and Nurse Practitioners. Works to establish annual performance improvement goals related to patient satisfaction, safety and care. 
  • Sets performance standards, assesses and delivers performance feedback to FNA clinical staff, and takes corrective action as needed. 
  • Serves as a mentor and manages the resolution of practice related problems of medical staff. 
  • Provides leadership for the selection, ongoing development, advancement, and optimization of clinical systems and technologies impacting patient care. 
  • Interacts with hospital Administration on issues related to financial performance, operational effectiveness, quality, patient satisfaction, budgeting, and legal issues.
  • Articulates the group practice's mission to the community and manages community relations.
